(Química) grupo de elementos químicos com propriedades físicas semelhantes que, junto com os lantanídeos, são conhecidos por terras raras. Todos eles são radioativos e possuem dois elétrons na camada de valência, numa configuração 7s2. Os actinídeos são formados pelos elementos naturais Ac, Th, Pa, U e, pelos chamados elementos transurânicos, Np, Pu, Am, Cm, Bk, Cf, Es, Fm, Md, No, Lw.
