Solução encontrada por Augusto de Campos para verter o inglês brillig (en), variante de bryllyg (en), termo criado por Lewis Carroll que, segundo Humpty Dumpty, personagem do livro Through The Looking Glass, significa "four o'clock in the afternoon - the time when you begin broiling things for dinner"; brillig vem talvez do inglês brylling (en), gerúndio de bryl (en), ou broiling (en) 'escaldante, tórrido', gerúndio de broil (en) 'assar, grelhar; expor ou estar exposto a um grande calor; arder, ferver'; ou ainda de broiler (en) 'quem ou o que assa; (coloquial) dia muito quente, escaldante'; briluz, talvez, de brilho + luz.
